Canadian Wild English Adventures offers language study and adventure in the Coast Mountains of British Columbia. Students stay in comfortable B&Bs (pensions) in the Birkenhead valley, only 175 km from Vancouver and 76 km north of Whistler ski resort. The area is famous for its crystal-clear lakes, many ancient forests, 2800 m. high glacier-capped mountains, the surrounding wilderness and many rarely seen wildlife species (puma, black bear, grizzly bear). Summers are typically hot and dry, late into September. English Language Instruction - Classes take place 3 hours daily Monday to Friday. They'll be taught outdoors and will focus on games and activities to make learning fun and easy. Certified English teachers with experience in summer adventure programs will lead the classes and will be with you for the adventures. The B&B hosts will help the students practice English after classes. Students at a low intermediate to advanced level would benefit most from the classes, but we will accept others. Evenings and weekends are free time to explore or relax. The Adventures - Group activities occur 5 days per week in the afternoons. Certified guides, experienced in guiding tours, will make each day an adventure you'll never forget. The following are some of the activities possible: Whitewater Rafting, Kayaking, Hiking, Wilderness Camping, Paragliding, Scenic Plane Flights, Voyageur Canoeing, Rock Climbing, Horseback Riding, Mountain Biking, Local Native Cultural Events, Bear Watching/Wildlife Viewing, All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) self-driven tours, Windsurfing.
